What is "Xchange Your Phone"?
Xchange your phone is a price comparison site for mobile phone recycling. We have partnered with the 8 most well established mobile phone recylers so that you get the best price when you cash in your phone.
Why should I recycle my mobile phone?
Well, firstly recycling your mobile phone is a very quick and easy was to get cash. It really is money for old rope. A staggering 80% of old mobiles in the UK are left collecting dust in drawers or binned and sent to landfill. When you think you could be getting up to £260 from a recycling company for your phone it certainly makes sense to cash it in.
Secondly and of most importance, mobile phones are unfortunately full of toxic chemicals and when they are not recycled safely these toxins do really terrible damage to our environment. Just one mobile phone battery contains enough cadmium (a deadly toxin and carcinogen) to pollute 600,000 litres of water.
When you recycle your mobile the chemicals are removed safely and the important components and plastics recycled for use elsewhere. Often if the phone is fully functional it will be sent to a country where landlines are incredibly expensive and a second hand mobiles offer a cheap, affordable and accessabile means of communication.
How does it work?
We update our database everyday so that we are able to search the all the recycling companies and list all the offers that are available for you. You can select the best cash or voucher offer, fill in your details and wait for the free return envelope in the post.
Once you have posted your phone by freepost, it then arrives at the recyclers where they are tested and accessed, this usually takes 24 hours. After this time, your cheque will be sent to you by first class mail.
How do I send my phone?
Select the recyling company with the best cash offer. You are then taken to their website where you fill in your details. You will be sent a freepost envelope or you can send them your phone in your own suitable envelope (if you have one) to their freepost address.
Can I recycle a broken or damaged phone?
The simple answer is yes. Although the price you receive will be lower than the price quoted for a fully functional phone. After the testing procedure the recycler will assess the value of a broken or damaged mobile and send you a cheque for this amount.
How do I know if my phone is working?
To be classed as a "working phone" it must be able to switch on and off, it must be complete with all battery covers and bodywork. The body work should have no cracks and screen must be intact with no cracks.
What should I send with my handset?
Just send your phone with the battery. No other accessories (the charger for example) are needed.
What if my phone is registered stolen or barred?
Phones that are registered stolen or barred will not be accepted.
